What is Micro Ear Surgery?

Micro ear surgery is a surgical approach used to treat different middle and inner ear diseases. This technique involves using a surgical microscope to make an enlarged view of the ear, making fine cuts on the area of interest easier.

Common Micro Ear Operations That We Do :

Myringoplasty

This operation helps fix the torn skin in the ear and helps prevent eardrum infection.

Ossiculoplasty

This procedure reconstructs the ossicular chain, the bones in the middle ear, to improve hearing.

Stapedotomy

This surgery helps to correct or reconstruct the stapes bone, which aids in improving hearing using lasers.

Intra-Tympanic Steroid Injections

They are delivered through the middle ear to treat sudden sensorineural hearing loss.

Tympanoplasty

The following is a surgery to treat eardrum perforations and hearing impairment due to middle ear diseases.

Tympanomastoidectomy

It is done to remove cholesteatoma, a cystic swelling on the ear canal's lining.

How is the Diagnosis Made?

To treat a person properly, one has to diagnose the problem correctly. Some of the assessments and tests that we use include the following:

Audiogram (Hearing Test)
This test is one of the most common, and it tests the hearing at different tones and decibel levels.
Otoscopy
This involves examining the ear canal and the eardrum using instruments offering a clear view of these parts.
Patient History Review
This includes evaluating features such as hearing impairment, dizziness, vertigo, or facial weakness.
Radiological Test
Radiological tests in ENT involve imaging techniques like X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs to evaluate the ear, nose, and throat.
Routine Blood and Urine Tests
These tests are useful in evaluating the patient's general health status before surgery.
